About the Role

We are seeking qualified and professional American Sign Language (ASL) Interpreters to provide remote video interpreting services. In this role, you will facilitate accurate and effective communication between Deaf or Hard of Hearing individuals and hearing parties across medical, legal, educational, business, and community settings.

This position requires professionalism, neutrality, cultural competence, and the ability to work independently in a virtual environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide real-time, accurate ASL interpretation via secure video platforms

  • Interpret spoken English into ASL and ASL into spoken English while preserving tone, meaning, and intent

  • Maintain strict confidentiality in accordance with HIPAA and professional ethical standards

  • Remain impartial and avoid inserting personal opinions during assignments

  • Prepare for sessions by reviewing relevant terminology and context when necessary

  • Submit session reports, billing information, and required documentation promptly

  • Maintain reliable internet connectivity and professional video/audio quality

  • Adhere to company policies and interpreter codes of ethics

Qualifications

  • Fluency in American Sign Language and English (required)

  • ASL certification preferred

  • Minimum 1–2 years of professional interpreting experience (medical, legal, or educational preferred)

  • Strong knowledge of Deaf culture and cultural competency best practices

  • Excellent listening, comprehension, and memory retention skills

  • Ability to work independently and manage scheduled appointments effectively

  • High-speed, reliable internet connection

  • Computer with webcam and high-quality audio equipment

  • Confidence using video conferencing platforms
